As the Pirates continue to give away all their good players, there is some excitement in Washington. With Nyjer Morgan at the top of their lineup, the Nationals are suddenly much more exciting to watch. He can fly. The 18 stolen bases he had as a Pirate are almost as much as the whole Nats team had(23).

I have to confess - I love speed. I've always been excited to watch great base stealers like Maury Wills and Lou Brock. Morgan is young and if he stays healthy will rank with the best of them.

He's also the best center fielder I've seen since Andruw Jones. The Nationals, who lead the league in errors from the outfield also got the fielder they desperately needed.

As for Patty's Pirates, the once proud franchise is losing all of their players of any interest. Having traded Jason Bay to the Red Sox(he's been the MVP of the American League in the first half IMO), Mclouth to the Braves and now Morgan to the Nationals, they have little left. It's hard to believe this was the team that had Willie Stargell, Roberto Clemente and Manny Sanguillen. Later Barry Bonds and Andy Van Slyke. There's nobody left that excites. Yes, I know the franchise has money problems in a football city, but Washington is a football city and they have the right idea of how to try and rebuild a baseball team.

I have to also confess that I miss Three Rivers stadium. It was an intimate stadium and I loved it.
