Actually I've never thought of it in terms of whether or not it is politically correct. I don't usually think about the tv shows I watch in those terms.

You are right about the obsession with political correctness here. One of my favorite sitcom episodes was an episode of Third Rock from the Sun where the aliens decide to pick what ethnic group they're from. It's really funny from beginning to end. In the end, they find out they are Jewish because their landlady says that one of her former husbands was one of "your people". They get all excited and ask her what people those are. She says Jewish because their name is Solomon, and they are so happy to find out what group they belong to, and at the end of the episode they play Fiddler on the Roof. I certainly didn't find the episode offensive, just funny, but I can imagine someone going up to me and asking if it offended me. There's a big difference between truly insulting someone and laughing at ourselves.

I also very much like a Murphy Brown episode that deals with the subject of political correctness. It's also very funny.

As for Becker, he treats everybody exactly the same way.
