Interesting to hear your thoughts on it!
I got particularly interested in how you all directly or indirectly brought up the issue of the show's political incorrectness as a bonus... I realized then something... One thing that I noticed, as a foreign, about Americans, is their obsession (don't mean to offend anyone, I am saying it -"obsession"- as a form to express how strong I think the issue is there) about being "politically correct". Most shows are and try to be extremely politically correct... and Becker is indeed a breeze of fresh air regarding that particular phenomenon in US' TV shows...
Now, that might also explain why it doesn't have the same appeal to me... in my culture, "political correctness" is not something as sought after and as watched in shows, especially in sitcoms or humor shows, as in America.
Maybe I am more used to an ironic and even "merciless" to some social groups (to different social groups, but to all) kind of humor...

Or am I dead wrong about the American obsession over political correctness? if so, let me know!
