What other old children's shows do you remember fondly? Captain Kangaroo was the greatest of his era, but there were others that were very good, such as Wonderama, Winchell/Mahoney, The Banana Splits, HR Puffenstuff and the wonderful Shari Lewis. I'm old enough to have watched Kukla, Fran and Ollie too with the gentle Fran Allison and her puppets.
In Connecticut, we had Colonel Clown who used to show Three Stooges shorts and would have a fine program around it. We also had Mr. Goober who was on every morning and very witty and Ranger Andy who would lead sing alongs in the afternoon and have kids on as guests.
The original Art Linkletter house party with all the kids was a great show.
Of course, there was also the Wonderful World of Disney(and before that the Wonderful World of Color). Glued to the tv many Sunday evenings.
Care to join me on a trip down memory lane about old children's shows?
