How many friends do you have that you've been friends with for more than 10 years?

I was just talking to my friend, D, last night and the conversation drifted to the length of our friendship. We counted 17 yrs. I feel what has made it last is
that we've always supported one another, even if we didn't totally agree with the other, we each would allow the other a safe place to vent and offer
encouragement in return.
Also, there is an unspoken commitment to stay in touch no matter the years or miles apart. I know she would do anything for me which recently included picking up my child at the airport at 11PM, having her stay overnight and driving an hour away to get her to the next destination. She was also at the birth of that same child nearly 16 yrs ago. We've seen each other through the loss of both of our mothers. The mutual friendship between our children has waned but ours has kept on, and we always know the other is only a phone call away.

It's really special to know there's a friend like that who's been a part of so much of your life!

Long Term Friends | ||

I have 2 close best friends (males) from Jr. High School days. We have been friends for 45 years. I plan to see both of them in Texas next week on my summer
vacation. We plan to do several things togather (race track, Casino, poker game, etc.). When togather we recount the good ole days and have many laughs. It
greatly warms my heart to be around them.
I have several other friends over 10 years but not near as close as these two. It is said a person will only keep up to 2-3 persons as friends for life. I have found this to be very true with me and others. Most friendships are short term especially when you move around a lot like I have over the years. |

I would say at least 5. One I had lost contact with for no reason and thanks to my daughter and computers we are back in touch and taking up where we left
off.
I would say humor and kindness have kept the friendships alive even if they have taken a lot of twists and turns. Forgiveness and compassion are two other important reasons. Unfortunately I have lost two close friends to death and could be losing another one that way. It makes me treasure the other ones even more. |

You know, I was an Army brat, then I joined the Army, when I got out I married a man in the Army... now he's out. I had seven different first grades! We
moved around so much that I learned to make friends quickly ~ but none of us stayed in touch for very long.
We have lived here since late 1996 and I met my best friend shortly after we moved here. She was teaching my children piano lessons and we decided to start a home school support group together. We have been best friends ever since. She is the one who would have custody of my children should my husband or I pass away. Their family has become part of ours. I am not the kind of person who has a ton of friends, I have just a few and she is the only one who is that close. I always leave my time with her feeling like a better person. ![]() Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Cor 2:15
